CHILDREN | YOUTH CLASS SCHEDULE SEPTEMBER  2019| 2020

 
 

CREATIVE BALLET  - Students learn to love dance while developing coordination, musicality and motor skills. Young dancers practice following instructions and become comfortable working in a group setting. Students must be age 4 by 12/30/19

 

 

BALLET BASICS A and B - Students are introduced to technical ballet vocabulary and class etiquette

  • Basics A Students must be age 6 by 12/30/19, this is a 45-minute class

 

  • Basics B Students should have at least one year of ballet experience,  for ages 6.5 and up by placement, this is a one hour class which requires more focus and participation

 

 

BALLET BEGINNER BASICS C- An introduction to ballet technique for the elementary student who is interested in pursuing ballet, for ages 7-11

 

 

BALLET BEGINNER l & lA - Serious study of ballet begins at this level, students build upon their training in fundamental concepts of classical ballet technique, vocabulary and studio etiquette. Two ballet classes per week suggested

 

BALLET BEGINNER ll - Beginning students continue to discover their passion for dance, the class incorporates strength building, adagio, turn practice and linking steps. Two Classes per week highly recommended

 

 

PRE POINTE | BEGINNER POINTE 

  • Pre-Pointe is the first step toward working en pointe and concentration is on correct alignment, muscle /core strength, and correct classical ballet technique. 

  • Beginner Pointe works on the same syllabus in pointe shoes.

 

Pre -Pointe/Beginner Pointe students must take two classes per week minimum 

 

 

MODERN | CONTEMPORARY  l & ll -A whole-body approach including; flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness to allow freedom of expression. This class combines modern, jazz, and classical ballet technique. Based on the style of the Horton Technique 

BALLET APRENTINCE YOUTH STUDENT PROGRAM for the preteen | teen interested in pursuing dance in an academic setting such as a performing arts high school or college, as a vocation or a creative outlet. Students are offered unlimited classes and the opportunity to work with professional dancers and guest teachers in the classroom and in performance. 

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS 

 

WHY THE DRESS CODE  IS IMPORTANT

Classical ballet attire enables the student to move freely while allowing the teacher to observe and correct the dancer’s alignment and technique. The simplicity of proper attire creates clean lines and is not a distraction to the student. The uniform is part of the discipline and respect for the art form. 

 

Street clothes are not to be worn in class

Hair must be pulled back. Elementary | Teen levels hair should be in a bun.
